About the Director
Michael A. Peddell is the Director of Lawyer's Edge Defense Services. Until the beginning of 2007, he was a Sergeant with the
Plymouth Police Department. A graduate of the Plymouth Municipal Police Academy in 1985, he served as a patrolman before being promoted to sergeant in 1991. Mr. Peddell holds several degrees, including a bachelor's from the University of Massachusetts and a master's from Western New England College.
During his tenure in Plymouth, Mr. Peddell held numerous supervisory positions including several years working as a shift commander. He also served for several years as president of the superior officers union, representing all sergeant's and lieutenants.
His most recent assignment was that of Training Coordinator & Administrative Sergeant, a staff position from which he reported directly to the administrative captain and the police chief.
In this position he was responsible for coordinating and setting up all of the training for members of the Plymouth Police Department; for gathering all applicable recent case law and distributing and teaching it; for training officers on the department's firearms simulator (FATS); for the re-training of officers who showed deficiencies; for the instruction of Firearms Training/Qualification on the department's pistols, shotguns, and patrol rifles, and the instruction of First Responder/CPR.
In his administrative capacity, Mr. Peddell was responsible for all department equipment and its issuance. He wrote Policies & Procedures and General Orders, distributed and taught them. He served as Keeper of Records for all department audio tapes and as the department's Keeper of Records for the alcohol breath test machine (he re-trained operators as well). And he reviewed police reports for accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Since his retirement in 2007, Mr. Peddell has become a Massachusetts licensed Private Investigator conducting exclusively criminal investigations with a concentration in high profile Superior Court cases. As Mr. Peddell has conducted hundreds criminal investigations in that time, he has uniquely learned, through many of the Commonwealth’s best attorneys, what is necessary for the government to obtain a conviction.
He and his wife Karen and their three children live in Marshfield. Michael is an Associate Member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
